The former police chief of Burns, Kansas was arrested Tuesday for sexual exploitation of a child.
Officers with the El Dorado Police Department arrested 38-year-old Joel Womochil after reportedly receiving a tip from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children, which prompted an investigation. Womochil had resigned as chief on August 8th.
Womochil faces 13 counts of sexual exploitation of a child, and it was alleged that he also possessed sexual images or videos of children under the age of 18.
The Kansas Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Butler County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation, which is ongoing.
