Salina police say they have arrested a student for threatening a school shooting on social media.
Police said they were notified late Wednesday about a student who had posted a threat to “shoot up the school” because he had been suspended. Police contacted officials at Lakewood Middle School and confirmed the information.
Police contacted the student Wednesday evening and took him into custody, booking him on a charge of criminal threat, and he will be handled through the juvenile court system in Saline County.
Police said there is not believed to be an active threat to any students or faculty in the Salina school district.
