The latest numbers for COVID-19 cases have been showing a declining trend in Kansas and for Sedgwick County.
The state reported 4,027 new cases on Monday, with nine new deaths and 71 new hospitalizations. The state has 748,520 cases for the pandemic, with a total of 7,725 deaths.
Sedgwick County reported 298 new cases on Monday, with no new deaths. The county has reported 109,232 cases for the pandemic and a total of 973 deaths.
There are 2,010 cases of the omicron variant in Kansas, with 223 cases in Sedgwick County.
Sedgwick County’s COVID-19 dashboard reports a positive testing rate of 15.9 percent, down from a high of 23.1 percent in January.
Wichita hospitals are still in a critical status, but they are reporting fewer patients this week. There were 218 people hospitalized in Wichita, compared to 272 a week ago. There were 54 people in intensive care, down from 67 reported last week.
The Sedgwick County Health Department has reduced the hours of operation at the main vaccination clinic in the former downtown library building in Wichita, at 223 South Main. The hours of operation are now 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. The reduced hours are in response to a drop in demand at the clinic. The county has scheduled mobile vaccine clinics, which are held daily at locations around the area. The mobile clinics are located at Exploration Place and the Walters Library on Mondays, the Alford Library on Tuesdays, Charles Koch Arena on Wednesdays, and the former Metro Boulevard High School on Thursdays.
